Summer Blooming Shrubs
If its summertime where you're at, Forsythias, flowering Quince, many varieties of Azaleas and all the other spring-flowering shrubs in the landscape have finished blooming. During Summer we're watching all the butterflies and hummingbirds flutter and zip around. So what do you have to attract and feed them? Got blooms? If not, you can plant some low-maintenance, beautiful summer-blooming shrubs such as Butterfly Bush and Lantana.
Summer is a great time to plant flowering shrubs in the garden as they will root in very quickly with the warmer soil temperatures. Before you know it, you'll be happily surrounded with color...and happy butterflies and hummingbirds.
Oh, and let's not forget, many summer flowering shrubs produce flowers that can be cut and broiught indoors.
